Orange and Yellow Backyard Beach House Wedding of Jared and Tricia
One year ago on August 17, 2013 Tricia and Jared brought together a fantastic group of folks for their backyard beach house wedding in Shelton. It was a hot hot day, and one we were all so grateful to be in the backyard of Jared's families beach house.
As you approached the beach house, you see a sign with all the names pointing to the beach houses owned in the area, and on the list is "Groom" which I found super appropriate. Not only is this Jared's last name, but what he was that day. For that day, there was a duel purpose to that sign :)
Tricia was bustling in the upper bedroom, already dressed and getting her final touches of her hair and makeup done. Jared was downstairs affixing his boutonniere. Looking ready, and antsy to get the day started. We brought them together for what is one of my favorite moments of the day. The first site.
The anticipation is palpable in the air, the heat is dampened by the slight breeze coming off the ocean as Jared waits in the shade of the house he's summered in through his childhood. He waits, listening for the tell tail creaks of Tricia's steps down the front steps of the beach house. He has been told not to turn around until Tricia tells him too. You can see in his eye, and the shuffle of his feet, that he wants to turn so badly, but knows that she is worth the wait.
I loved photographing Tricia and Jared, as they are such a low key and real couple. Their embraces are natural, their smiles sincere, and the glint of her eyes when his hand reaches for hers. The swell of his shoulders has she leans in to embrace him. It is so evident of just how their hearts beat to the same rhythm.
The sun glistening off the water in the background, the mason jar glasses full of Arnold Palmers shimmered with condensation as they were enjoyed by the guests, waiting for the party to begin. The yellow and red accents through the decorations and flowers gave a beautiful pop off the blue of the water behind.
Their backyard beach house wedding ceremony followed by amazing food from Skillet Street Food Truck, thoughtful and extremely entertaining toasts, with the sun setting behind them and the sky turning a deep and beautiful blue, the party lights strung overhead casting a warm glow over the beginning of a dance party, and ice cream cones for all to enjoy. This backyard beach house wedding was the perfect way to start Tricia and Jared's journey of married life together and I wish them the best on their one year anniversary!
